Backyard Golf Association ©
The Backyard Golf Association (BGA) is an accrediting body overseeing all forms of home based recreational golf courses and tournaments in the U.S. These courses and tournaments typically use restricted flight balls (e.g. wiffle balls) played in a party atmosphere.
To gain accreditation Course Owners and Tournament Directors need to meet minimum requirements including, but not limited to:
- You must absolutely NOT take this at all seriously. While you make take it as over the top as you want, it is tongue in cheek
- Approved application for membership
- Minimum of 9 holes
- An official course layout of the holes
- A scorecard
- Clearly marked tees
- A device acting as a flagstick or hole so players can "hole out"
- Tournament's focus is on fun and creativity
Benefits of registration with the BGA are:
- Inclusion in the listing of courses on the website
- Inclusion in the listing of tournaments on the website
- Sharing among members of issues and ideas relating to backyard courses and tournaments
